New Train Station opens at London Southend Airport Improves Waterford Airport Connection with London

July 2011

The highly anticipated Train Station at London Southend Airport opened this week to delight of Waterford Airport passengers.

The station is on the Southend Victoria to London line, National Express East Anglia’s route and will transport passengers directly from London Southend Airport to Liverpool Street, right in the heart of the City of London.

The station will see up to eight train services an hour offering direct links to Stratford (44 minutes) – site of the 2012 Olympics, and to London Liverpool Street (53 minutes).

The idea of a dedicated airport station had been in the pipeline for a long time but it was only when the airport was sold to the Stobart Group that construction work began.

Commenting on the opening, Graham Doyle CEO at Waterford Airport said, “We are delighted the new Train Station has opened directly at London Southend Airport, it means our passengers can directly access London City centre with the most ease and convenience.”

Waterford Airport offers 14 Aer Arann return flights per week to London Southend Airport and four return flights per week to London Luton, Manchester and Birmingham, thirteen return flights per week to Galway and a weekly return to Lorient. For further information see flywaterford.com
