Budding young artists in the South East are being invited to enter a competition to design Waterford Airport’s next promotional postcard.

The competition, launched this week to schools in Waterford City and County, Counties Wexford, Carlow, Tipperary, and Kilkenny, gives local children the chance to win some great prizes for their family and schools.

“We’ve asked primary schoolchildren in each area to design their own postcard for the Airport”, says Graham Doyle, CEO of Waterford Airport. “Aer Arann flies directly from Waterford Airport to London, Birmingham and Manchester. They are also now taking bookings for Amsterdam, Bordeaux, Faro, Galway, Lorient and Malaga with flights available from May making Waterford Airport the ideal summer holiday departure for the South East. The postcard should have ‘summer holidays’ as its theme. We’re really looking forward to seeing the creative efforts of children throughout the region.”

“The winning postcard will be printed and used at the Airport to help promote our new routes to Europe, so it’s a great opportunity for a young artist to have their work seen by many people in the local area”, he added.

“There will be one overall competition winner will also win a week’s holiday to Bordeaux for 2 adults and 2 children, including flights and accommodation, €500 of arts supplies for their school, and a trip to Waterford Airport for their class.

“The best postcard design from each of the 4 other counties involved in the competition will be awarded €500 of arts supplies for their class”, continued Mr Doyle.

To be in with a chance of winning these great prizes, primary school students should design their own postcards on blank paper (A4 size or smaller), and mark their name, age, and school on the back of the design.

Entries should then be sent to:
