Fáilte Ireland welcomes UK flights to Ireland’s Ancient East

June 19th

Fáilte Ireland today welcomed the announcement by Waterford Airport of the resumption of scheduled services to three cities in the UK, beginning in July 24, with services to London (Luton Airport), Manchester and Birmingham.

Welcoming the news,, Jenny de Saulles Head of Ireland’s Ancient East said, “Waterford is an important part of our Ireland’s Ancient East brand and any additional access into the south east is to be welcomed. Earlier this year, we worked with Waterford Airport to develop an innovative way of telling the story of Ireland’s Ancient East and create a sense of place that will resonate with visitors that pass through the airport and inspire them to visit for longer or to come back again. We look forward to welcoming many visitors on these new routes.”

Ireland’s Ancient East has been developed by Fáilte Ireland to maximise the history and heritage in the East and South of Ireland and bring it to greater international attention, with a target of €204 million in revenue for the region by 2020.
